Thanks to the exceptional BMW engineering, the new BMW i3’s 33kWh battery produces an all-electric range of 195 miles. If you wish to extend that, you can add a range extending 647cc petrol engine, which will increase the range to an impressive range of 276 miles. Even with the petrol engine fitted, the i3 will only produce 12g/km of CO2 whilst achieving a combined fuel consumption of 53.4mpg. Unrivalled.
Technical innovation is at the heart of the BMW i3. ConnectedDrive is the technology packet featured in many of BMW’s latest models, full of services and apps to help you stay connected and make driving more enjoyable. BMW i Navigation calculates your journey, considering your battery charge level, driving style, traffic conditions and even topography to ensure you take the most efficient route. The BMW i Remote App displays important information, including range and battery charge, as well as allowing you to control the air conditioning and other systems remotely.
Owning a BMW i3 means you may never have to visit a filling station ever again. With BMW home charging you can refuel your car as you sleep. Simply plug in the cable that is supplied with every i3 and recharge the battery. Alternatively, use the BMW i Wallbox to recharge. This wall-mounted charging station is a quicker, more efficient option that increases the charging capacity. Installation is customisable to your needs and BMW are prepared to arrange a green electricity contract to supply you with a renewable energy provider.

My experience at Barons BMW Borehamwood was initially positive because the salesman understood what I was looking for and secured the car (which i had found online). However, not his fault, but on the day of the actual collection he was busy and the paperwork took so long that he had a queue of clients waiting to see him. So I drove the car away with only the sketchiest idea of how it worked. Driving the car is the easy part, and I felt at home immediately in it, but understanding the controls has been (is still being) a nightmare. I called the salesman on the Monday after purchase and he was busy and didn't return my calls. The Product Genius had to be chased 3 times before he called back to answer the vital question of what kind of lead I need to charge the car at a charging point - because this was not provided. The home charging cable supplied with the car doesn't stretch from my house to the street, and no one can tell me whether it's okay to use an extension lead, or what kind: they think it is, but in the handbook it says don't use an extender, so I don't know what to do. The replacement cable, when I was eventually told what to buy, only arrived today so I haven't actually charged the car yet and the battery is almost flat. This afternoon I went to Barons Kentish Town, where they were very understanding and I had a 50 minute lesson in how to use some of the car's computerised functions. But if I recommend Barons to a friend, I would do so with the proviso that the after-sales service is inadequate - particularly for someone buying their first electric vehicle, which is such a different experience from a conventional car.Ms F 31st January 2020 Barons BMW Borehamwood
