Marketed as BMW’s first purely electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), this model comes with a large 80kWh battery with a 285-mile driving range. This means you can travel long distances on a single charge which makes the iX3 economical to run. There’s just one battery size available, teamed with a rear-mounted electric motor which makes 286hp and sends drive to the back wheels. There’s no four-wheel-drive option available.

While the conventional X3 sits in groups 28 to 40, you can expect the M Sport and M Sport Pro version of the iX3 model to fall into the higher insurance group 44 out of 50.

As a high-end, electric version of the X3, the iX3 comes with plenty of kit as standard including a 10.3-inch touchscreen and the BMW iDrive controller which provides quick access to all infotainment. BMW iX3 History

The X3 premiered in September 2003 at the Frankfurt Auto Show but it wasn’t until the end of 2021 when an electric version was launched.

Driving experience
