I sent this email to Ashley the service manager on 16th October and never heard back from him.
Hey Ashley,
I hope you’re well.
I’ve picked up my car this afternoon after a couple weeks in & out for issues with the gas filter and exhaust, and I want to lodge a complaint over the level of service I received.
I understand it’s a super busy dealership but the poor quality of and also lack of communication I received was substandard.
Tue 30th Sept - I dropped the car off to be checked as the engine light was on and I get a call later that afternoon saying it’s available for collection.
Wed 1st - I get an uber around 8.30am to collect it, turn the engine on and the engine light’s still on. I’m told it needs to stay in for further inspection so have to cancel my meetings and get an uber back home.
Thur 2nd - I ring up in the morning to ask for an update as without my car I’m unable to work. No-one rings me back. I ring again in the afternoon and speak to Jake who explains why the engine light came back on, everything’s cleared up and he says I can collect it same day while they wait for a part to arrive. I get an uber to collect it and we agree I can drop it off Thursday 9th at 5pm.
Thur 9th - I ring first thing to ask if I can drop the car earlier so it can start getting worked on sooner, I’m told someone will ring me back. No-one does. I manage to get out of work and drop it off earlier in the hope it’ll speed things up. I was told I’ll get a call on Friday with an update and it’ll be ready to collect Monday.
Fri 10th - no-one calls me. I ring and ask someone to ring me back, no-one calls.
Mon 13th - I ring in the morning to ask if I’m still able to collect today as I have booked meetings off the basis of being told it would be ready today. No-one rings me back. I ring again in the afternoon and am told it’s taking longer than expected but that I can collect it Tuesday.
Tue 14th - I ring again, asking if today’s the day. I’m told I’ll get a call back. No-one calls. I ring in the afternoon and get through to Jake, who says it’s still not ready but that there’s a courtesy car now available. I get an uber and collect the courtesy car.
The consistent lack of communication and the ever changing promises about when it would be ready was really frustrating as I’m reliant on my car to work, so having to constantly cancel meetings off the back of wrong information has affected my job massively.
I’d expect if there’s no clear date when the job would be finished, expectations would be managed and the end date would be left open rather than being consistently promised dates that were clearly unrealistic.
Being told almost every time I rang that I would get a call back and rarely doing so was highly exasperating.

We recently bought a car from Volkswagen Dealership Manchester and the whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. We were seen by Waqar, who was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, he was approachable and easy to talk to, which made the whole process feel relaxed and effortless. He took the time to answer every question with patience and detail, and his friendly manner made what can often be a stressful experience genuinely enjoyable. He suggested that we take the car that we were interested in for a test drive which really made our mind up for us.. We also did a part exchange, and he made that process completely effortless. On the day of collection, Robbie finalised the sale and completed the rest of the paperwork ensuring everything went smoothly for us. The car was presented in perfect condition, and the whole process couldn’t have gone better. I’d highly recommend Volkswagen Old Trafford to anyone looking for a new or used car — truly a five-star experience!

The visual vehicle health video after my service was very mumbled by the mechanic, I understand that it can be a busy garage but the car was there for the whole day and he didn’t seem to care to do it properly.
I have also asked with help setting up the VW app when I dropped the car and when I picked it up and at check out it was a sale department member that asked me 4 times how long “I’ve had the car” before even having a look at it. He said the car connects to his VW car account so he doesn’t see why it wouldn’t connect to my app.
Overall not a very warm and professional experience.

Fault not found - yet when I got in the car the fault appeared immediately
