The latest generation of Euro 6 TDI and BiTDI engines provide fantastic economy and an abundance of useable torque. Both fuel economy and CO2 emissions are also reduced without sacrificing the driving dynamics.

• How does it work?

  The engine is supplied with huge quantities of air as fuel needs oxygen to burn.

  Driven by exhaust gases, it squeezes air more tightly into the cylinders. After travelling through the turbocharger, the air is then cooled by passing it through an air intercooler (cool air takes up less space than hot air) before it enters the combustion chamber where the diesel is injected directly into cylinders at a very high pressure through a nozzle. 

  The intensive mixing of highly atomised fuel with the cooled compressed air is what leads to a better and more efficient combustion.
