• Volkswagen Transporter Celebrates Six Decades of success in the UK

  2014 was a significant milestone in the history of Volkswagen. Six decades ago the first ever right-hand Volkswagen Transporter arrived in the UK. A simple but extremely cleverly engineered van which was voted one of the most practical on the road, the Transporter marked the start of a revolution in the Commercial Vehicle Industry.

  Celebrating the diamond anniversary, the jewel of the commercial vehicles, crowns the world’s biggest-selling commercial vehicle, with variants including the camper, which has been seen through many generations of owners.

  The Transporter still remains unique to this day. Over the years it has helped it's owners build businesses and to fulfil their dreams. From travellers to business owners, from gardeners to builders, the Transporter has become a favourite choice for many generations. Despite that the Transporter has evolved massively over the years, through many generations, the philosophy and vision that was originally created still holds true.

  Not only did the Transporter mobilise a nation, it had also been the backbone of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and has been for the past 60 years. From the beginning, when just 786 were sold in the UK in its first year, the Transporter has been a force to be reckoned with. In 2013 UK sales reached 18,350 which has been a record figure and demonstrated that the vehicle's appeal is continuing to grow.
