And if you've got more to move, you'll appreciate the towing capacity of up to 3.1 tonne combined with high payloads of up to 1,154kg.

  Gravel, tarmac, earth. In the Amarok you'll experience the pinnacle of driving comfort on almost any terrain. It combines high ground clearance and excellent body stability with proven 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The result: traction in virtually every situation, even with heavy payloads.

  The Amarok’s wide wheelbase and increased ground clearance mean it can handle even extreme angles, gradients and slopes. So you can confidently tackle even the steepest terrain.

• Slope Angle & Depth

  From steep slopes to rushing streams, the new Amarok's got it covered. It has a maximum slope angle of 29.5° at the front and 18.0° at the rear, and can handle pools with a wading depth of 500 mm.

• 50° side angle

  The Amarok's broad wheelbase provides enormous stability, even when driving along slopes with a 50° incline*.

• Brakeover angle

  Thanks to its increased ground clearance and depending on the loading condition, the new Amarok can even climb ramps with an angle from 15.6° up to 20.1°.

  The outstanding off-road ABS as well as the Hill Descent Assist ensure high levels of safety across all terrains. Optional robust underride guard package protects the fuel tank against stones and branches on the ground.

• Reduced Stopping distance with ABS

  In addition to the conventional anti-lock braking system, the new Amarok is also equipped with off-road ABS which has been specially developed for use off the beaten track. Simply press a button to activate the off-road ABS. This will increase the braking interval so that small wedges of material on the ground (such as gravel or sand) build up in front of each wheel. This can substantially reduce the stopping distance of the vehicle.

• Steady slopes with Hill Descent Assist

  This allows you to drive down slopes in a safe, controlled way, thanks to the engine management’s ability to govern the engine speed, and apply the brakes when driving off-road if necessary. The vehicle’s speed is maintained at a constant crawling pace.

• 4MOTION all-wheel drive

  Unique drive technology
  
  The Amarok offers premium driving comfort, even under the toughest of conditions. This is thanks to the perfect harmony created between the running gear and drive calibration – combined with the proven and tested 4MOTION all-wheel drive which packs a punch when you need it most. The outstanding off-road ABS function also helps to reduce braking distances on loose terrain.

  Always-on 4MOTION all-wheel drive

  The Amarok's always-on 4x4 drive system is unique in it's class: a self-locking Torsen middle differential provides a balanced 40:60 front to rear power distribution, ideal for both on-road and off-road driving. The Amarok really comes into its own on the road by significantly increasing traction when cornering.

• Load platform and load compartment

  The widest load platform in its class
  
  No other pick-up provides so much space between the wheel arches. The loading width of 1,222 mm even enables Euro pallets to be loaded crosswise. The spacious, 2.52m² cargo box features some impressive dimensions – such as the 508 mm high side panels and the low loading sill height of 780 mm.

• Powerful performance
  The 163PS and 204 PS six-cylinder turbodiesel engines with 3.0 l capacity have all the power you need, even in the most demanding situations.

• 8-speed automatic gearbox

  Highly efficient
  The Amarok is the only pickup in its class with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. While first gear has been specially optimised for pulling off when towing a trailer, eighth gear reduces fuel consumption through low-speed driving on long journeys . Equally unique: the option to combine the gearbox with the permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

• 6-speed manual gearbox

  On Trendline models
  The Amarok Trendline is now available with a 6-speed manual gearbox in combination with the 163PS and the 204PS engines. The new model features standard rear-wheel drive and comes with a selectable all-wheel drive which activates at the touch of a button.

  The Amarok’s interior boasts plenty of space to stow your belongings, including storage on the dash board, large compartments under the front seats and four cup holders. Countless extras ensure a comfortable drive and safe journey.

• New New "ergoComfort" seats with 14-way adjustment

  We've got your back
  With the optional “ergoComfort” seats both driver and passenger will enjoy the journey. As well as electrical 12-way adjustment, both leather seats come with manual 2-way adjustment and have been awarded the AGR seal of approval for outstanding ergonomics.

  Auxiliary water heater (not illustrated)
  This heater enables you to pre-heat the engine while also heating up the interior quicker or pre-heating it before you get in. The control unit is built into the roof console. Of course, you can also activate and deactivate the auxiliary water heater using the handy remote control.

Volkswagen MapCare provides access to free updates for all installed maps. Furthermore, Car-Net Guide & Inform can be activated in just a few steps and used free-of-charge for three years.

  Car-Net Guide & Inform
  As part of the vehicle’s navigation system, Car-Net Guide & Inform uses the internet to display updated travel information. If, for instance, a traffic jam is building, your route will be changed to make sure you're going the fastest way. You can also choose to display the cheapest petrol station nearby and much more.

  Electronic voice amplification (not illustrated)
  With this function, passengers in the rear seats can hear the driver. Voice input is recorded through a hands-free microphone, amplified, and then transmitted over the loudspeaker in the rear.

  The bi-xenon headlights generate both low and full beam illumination in a single headlight. This increases visibility and improves safety. Elegant LED light bands are installed as daytime running lights.

• Xenon Design Package

  This consists of a chrome double strip on the radiator grille, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights as well as dimmed rear lights and LED number plate lighting.

• With the Amarok's driver assistance features, help is always at hand
  The Amarok is the only pick-up in its class to come with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, 17-inch disc brakes at the front and 16-inch disc brakes in the rear as standard. What’s more, the trailer stabilisation system provides the best possible protection against snaking trailers.

  The Amarok’s intelligent safety systems help you to handle almost any difficult situation.

• Automatic Post-Collision Braking System

  This advanced system triggers braking after a collision, with the aim of preventing secondary collisions. After a short delay, the vehicle begins a phased braking action down to 6 mph, during which the driver can take over at any time.

• Electronic Stabilisation Program

  Prevents under- or over-steering via targeted braking of individual wheels.

• Trailer Stabilisation

  If the trailer starts to stray from its intended course, the system slows it down using controlled braking and reduced engine torque. This steadies the trailer and increases driving safety.

• ParkAssist

  Don't let anything get in your way
  Make bumps and scuffs when parking a thing of the past with ParkAssist. It emits an audible warning when obstacles are detected in front of or behind the vehicle, and also provides a visual display of the vehicle’s distance from the obstacles.

• Rear View Reversing Camera

  It's like having eyes in the back of your head
  The Rear View reversing camera shows you a limited view of the area behind the vehicle on the display of the radio or navigation system. It also displays static guidelines, helping to make parking even simpler.
   

• Light and Sight

  Optimum visibility in any weather
  Fog lights with integrated turning light and smart lighting systems ensure the best visibility and a safe journey, no matter how bad the weather.

• Helping you see what's coming

  Optional:

  Fog lights with integrated static turning light 
  Ensures optimal visibility in poor weather conditions. The headlight nearest to the corner illuminates the roadside when turning.

  The windscreen wipers are activated if it starts raining and the wiping interval is adapted to the amount of rain. What's more, the interior mirror is automatically tinted if the headlights in the vehicle behind are too bright. Also included in the package: automatic driving light control when darkness starts to fall, Coming Home / Leaving Home function.
