Grand California makes UK debut at Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show

The Grand California will make its UK debut at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show this week (Tuesday 19 to Sunday 24 February) at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham.

• A left-hand-drive pre-production Grand California 600 will be showcased, along with California Ocean and Beach models, on our beach-inspired stand. More than 90,000 people are expected to attend the show over the six-day event.

  With production for right-hand-drive vehicles planned to start in May, the first UK vehicles are scheduled to arrive from July onwards – and market introduction (ie one demonstrator in each of the 41 Tour sites) to start in September. Price and specification has not been confirmed for the UK yet, but prices are expected to start from around £65,000 on-the-road (including VAT).

  What’s happening at the show?

  The Grand California will play a big part in the official opening of the show, with a celebrity ‘stunt’ taking place on Monday - which will be played during the official opening on Tuesday. The press will also get an exclusive preview before the public access the halls on Tuesday at 10am.

  Fifteen members of the brand from across all areas of the business will be working hard on the stand over all six days of the show. They’ll be presenting the fabulous vehicles and taking enquiries from customers for all the Van Centres to follow up. They are also trialling a new digital solution for the first time for VWG at the show: the Data Capture app.

  To help customers navigate their way to the stand,they will be promoting their presence on Facebook and at the NEC’S outdoor poster sites, as well as in the free visitor show guide. And if that isn’t enough, the four-metre-high palm tree on the stand should attract visitors!

  More than 2,000 hand-raisers for Grand California and California owners were also emailed competition details to win tickets to the show. Not only was there a huge response to the competition, the winners have already been downloading their free tickets.

  They are also offering a prize of a two-week holiday in a California as part of the show’s publicity, in association with the show organisers and the Caravan and Motorhome Club, which has been promoted exclusively on Daily Mail Online.

  Keep a lookout on the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Press and PR Twitter feed on Tuesday. Grant McPherson will be tweeting live from the stand on the opening day of the show. Videos and photos from the show will also be showcased on their Facebook page, and communicated to all Grand California hand-raisers in the next edition of Download.

  They will also be visited at the weekend of the show by social media influencers ‘A Bus and Beyond’. With almost 17,000 YouTube subscribers, they will be creating content on the stand for their channels, and having a meet-and-greet with their social media followers.
