How often do I need to MOT my Jaguar?

An MOT test is required for vehicles three years or older on an annual basis. If your Jaguar is brand-new and you are not sure when your MOT is due, the time of registration will give you a date for when its first MOT test needs to be carried out. All vehicles must have a valid MOT certificate, which lasts for 12 months.

When your Jaguar needs its first MOT

Your Jaguar will receive thorough tests and checks to make sure that vital parts meet the legal standard in order to make your vehicle roadworthy. You can choose to keep your expiry date the same or change it by getting your MOT up to a month earlier.

As a vehicle owner, you are responsible for making sure that your Jaguar is examined by a trained professional every 12 months. If you do not and you fail to provide a valid MOT certificate, your insurance will become invalid and you could be fined up to £1000. It is illegal to drive without a valid MOT certificate and insurance cover.

How long does an MOT take?

You can leave your Jaguar with us or we can carry out the test while you wait. An MOT generally takes between 45 and 60 minutes, so you’re more than welcome to relax at our Jaguar Service and MOT centre while we take care of your vehicle. When booking your MOT, there are a few things to take into consideration:
- Always allow time for repairs, should your Jaguar fail its MOT test
- The test centre cannot legally let you drive away in your vehicle without a valid MOT certificate
- Some test centres may require you to drop off your Jaguar first thing in the morning
- It is best to plan to be without your vehicle for a day just in case it needs any repairs
