First Dedicated CUPRA Garage Opens in Mexico City

CUPRA has opened its first global flagship store in Mexico City, as well as unveiling the CUPRA Ateca to local media and VIPs, as the brand marks the next step in its global expansion strategy.
The world’s first ‘CUPRA Garage’ is a space exclusively dedicated to the brand. At the same time, six ‘CUPRA Corners’ throughout the SEAT dealership network in Mexico.
CUPRA CEO, Wayne Griffiths in attendance at the opening said: “Mexico is a key market for CUPRA, and the inauguration of the CUPRA Flagship is an important step for the brand’s expansion. Our models have always had a great acceptance in this market. In 2018, one of every three units sold of the SEAT Leon was a CUPRA, the highest mix worldwide”,
The ‘CUPRA Garage’, located in Colonia Roma in Mexico City, is a 300 square metre venue featuring a contemporary design inspired by the brand values of uniqueness, sophistication and performance. Its open-plan design allows room for up to six vehicles, staffed by a team of CUPRA Masters.
The ‘CUPRA Garage’ has a digital experience zone where customers can configure their next car or experience the CUPRA Formentor and CUPRA Tavascan Concept in virtual reality, as well as a racing area where the CUPRA TCR race car will be exhibited.
CUPRA, full speed ahead
Following its European launch, the limited edition (to 1,999 units) 300hp CUPRA Ateca SUV crossed the pond to take to the streets of Mexico. It was joined on stage by the first appearance of the CUPRA Formentor, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, in the country.
Expanding global network
The introduction of Mexico into the fold follows CUPRA already achieving sales success around the world, with more than 20,600 CUPRA-badged models sold up to October 2019 – a 78.9 per cent increase over the same period in 2018.
The UK is one of Europe’s leading sales markets for CUPRA with triple digit growth year-on-year.
In addition to the new ‘CUPRA Garage’, the brand has introduced six ‘CUPRA Corners’ to existing SEAT retailers across Mexico City, Puebla and Guadalajara.
CUPRA is an exclusive brand for unique people, designed to captivate customers and meet all car lovers’ expectations of uniqueness, sophistication and performance. In its first year of life, CUPRA sales in 2018 went up by 40% compared to last year, reaching 14,400 units. Along with the launch of new models, CUPRA will also keep the motorsport and racing spirit alive by participating in the TCR series.
