I just wanted to say a big thank you to Nick Levison for helping me purchase my BMW 340i. From the very first conversation, Nick was honest, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about the car, which made the whole experience feel much more personal and enjoyable. As I was travelling from far away and wanted to make sure I was buying the right car, Nick took extra time to answer all my questions, send over details, and make me feel comfortable throughout the process. Nothing ever felt rushed or pressured. You can really tell when someone is passionate about BMWs and cares about their customers, and Nick definitely does. Picking up the 340i was a special moment for me and he helped make it memorable. Thank you again Nick, absolute pleasure dealing with you and I would happily recommend you to anyone looking for their next BMW.

We had wonderful service from start to finish. It was my first time buying a BMW and I’m over the moon with my new car. Laura and Hamza were so knowledgeable and I couldn’t recommend them high enough. Thank you 😊

UPDATE Wednesday 7th May 2026 Followed your advice and tried to contact your 'service manager'. I have left several messages, phone calls and emails.....no response, I now give up any hope of anyone listening to me!! reading some of the latest comments on here there is clearly a fundamental issue with the service management within this BMW centre, my advice would be to avoid unless you want to be disappointed. UPDATE Sunday 26th April 2026 Email sent on Tuesday 21st April 2026 outlining more detail of my complaint has not been responded to!! Once again, I cannot believe the incompetence of this dealership, specifically in relation to the conduct and professionalism of your Service Manager, Jon, at your BMW Reading location. I regret to say that my interaction with Jon fell far below the standard I would expect from a brand of your reputation. Throughout the engagement, there was a clear lack of understanding of my concerns, as well as an absence of empathy toward my situation as a customer. I found his approach dismissive and unhelpful, which only served to escalate what should have been a straightforward matter. Equally concerning was what appeared to be a lack of sufficient knowledge or willingness to properly address customer needs. As someone who has been a loyal customer, I expect a level of competence and care that reflects the values your brand promotes. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations. Customer service is the cornerstone of any successful business. Without customers, there is no business to sustain. It is therefore disappointing to encounter such disregard for customer satisfaction, particularly at a managerial level where leadership and example are critical. As a result of this experience, I have made the decision to take my business elsewhere. This decision extends beyond my personal custom, as I will also be advising my company, family, and friends to reconsider their association with your dealership, this is already tangible with two new car orders placed elsewhere due to this poor experience. I hope you take this feedback seriously and review both the conduct and training of your staff to ensure that future customers do not encounter similar issues.

Lovely car showroom, multiple levels for new or used cars. Lots of vehicles to look at. But the staff...that's a different matter. Initially I was nicely greeted by a young sales rep who pointed in the direction of the vehicles I was interested in, and told me to ask of i had any questions. Free to look around the vehicles, very pleasant. But when it came to talking to one of the older more cynical sales reps, he showed such arrogance. Initially happy to discuss yhe vehicles and prices and performance etc. But when discussing buying incentives, such as deposit contributions on finance and charger installation costs etc (which other BMW dealers offer, as do other manufacturers) he became so arrogant. Conndescending with very ignorant comments. He was then very dismissive of anything I had to say and then (to justify it all to himself) finished by profiling me, telling me "I wasn't a BMW customer". With hindsight he is right, I wont be buying a BMW from Group 1 BMW! Come here if you want to be patronised.

Amazed this place doesn't go bust. I was looking to buy two cars when I visited this dealer. I was completely ignored by the salesmen who were too busy having a laugh in their office. Two lost sales walked out the door, amazing.

I’ve been in contact with Dan regarding an M4 competition convertible reg: LC18NME. I’ve told him I can only view the car on Sunday as I work 6 days a week. He told me he can arrange it with Lex including a test drive. A walk around video was made and deposit sent. Well, come Sunday I drove all the way from Colchester and arrived early but they opened the door at 10.15am which was 15mins late. I’ve waited at the showroom for another 15mins and Nick came down to tell me that Lex was busy with another customer and unfortunately a test drive is not possible. I was fuming as I made it clear with Dan that I wanted to test drive the car before buying it and he promised me it will happen. Anyway Nick suggested I should look at the car and any points have to be taken to Dan because it’s his sale. I took a quick look around the car and my heart sank as soon as I noticed the rear NS quarter panel has been poorly resprayed with lots of bubble residue. Also there was a 1inch rip on the driver side rubber trim where it meets the folding roof. I told Nick about the faults and he boldly said these issues won’t the rectified by BMW because it’s an 8yr old car, I told him I know it’s not a brand new car but is it a very low mileage car and there should be a high standard for an approved used BMW cars. He argued back saying there’s a couple of more clients coming to view it so it could be sold to them as it is, I was absolutely disappointed with that response and left the showroom. What a waste of 4hr round trip. The next day Dan called back to apologise about the situation and there was a miscommunication within the sales team and Lex should’ve seen me. He also mentioned the inspection team had missed the poorly resprayed panel when it was taken it as part-ex. Well maybe they should’ve gone to specsavers. He told me the car is going in for a respray and will send me more photos and videos after it’s been done, well guess what! He never did. It also it took them nearly 2 weeks to refund my deposit. I’ve dealt with Group 1 BMW in Ipswich and Colchester and their service has always been in high standard but unfortunately the Reading dealer is nothing more than a glorified backyard dealer.

I originally purchased my car from this dealership when it was under Inchcape ownership. Over the past two years, however, the operation has deteriorated significantly — to the point where it was even closed for a period. During that time, I switched to Harwoods for MOT and servicing and received consistently excellent, professional service. Unfortunately, today’s experience confirmed that this dealership has not recovered. I had an 11:00am “MOT while you wait” booking. I arrived early, completed online check-in in advance, and handed over my keys promptly. Despite this, I was left waiting for 2 hours 30 minutes with no updates whatsoever. Only around 1:30pm did their customer service approach me with observations seeking my approval (without price). I immediately agreed to proceed with the repairs and asked for pricing — and was then made to wait a further 20 minutes. This is not a one-off delay; it reflects a deeper issue. The dealership appears to be masking operational inefficiencies behind a polished showroom, with little regard for customers’ time. There was zero communication, no proactive updates, and no courtesy to acknowledge the delay or offer options (e.g., rescheduling or setting expectations). After three hours of waiting, I had no confidence left in the service and chose to collect my keys and leave. Frankly, this level of service is unacceptable.

If I can help it, I will never come here again. To cut a long story short: 1. They damaged the window seals on my car (as shown in the pictures) whilst trying to fix a completely different issue 2. They returned my car with a nail in the tyre 3. They called me to say my car wouldn't pass its MOT unless I bought new tyres - after it had passed the MOT half an hour before their call Tried contacting management when this happened and they were completely uninterested.
