Designed to help millions of people stay on the road, the Motability Scheme has been giving people the mobility they need to keep their freedom since 1978. It enables you to exchange your monthly benefits for a three-year lease on a brand-new car.
The scheme is very simple, all you have to do is choose the brand-new Ford you would like from our range of models. You can find a vehicle that works for you at an affordable price. Visit your nearest ThinkFord dealership to test drive the car of your choice, and if you're happy with it, we'll complete your order for you.
We want to make sure that you find the car that is right for you. Our expert staff are on hand to help guide you through the whole process.
You can utilise any of the follwoing government funded mobility allowances towards a brand-new Ford:
However, the scheme is not exclusive to the driver - someone can claim on behalf of the claimant. If the claimant is under the age of 16, their parent, guardian or carer can claim on their behalf. For more information on eligibility, please visit the Motability Scheme website.
On the Motability Scheme, you can access hundreds of adaptations ranging from basic driving controls to person hoists for wheelchair users. We believe your motoring experience should be as stress-free as possible and adapting your vehicle can do just that. Whether you need help to drive, get in or out of the car, or stow your wheelchair, there is an adaptation to suit your personal needs.
Getting the adaptations made to your vehicle is easier and more cost-effective if you get it sorted at the same time you order your car. So, you can enjoy your Ford as soon as it is delivered, with your adaptations already fitted. Some adaptations even come at no extra cost, saving you money.
No matter what your needs are, our team of Motability specialists can help you establish what you find difficult with your current vehicle and which adaptations may help you. Sometimes solving your mobility issues can be as simple as choosing the right model, like a car with an automatic transmission for example. Whatever your needs, our friendly staff can help find a vehicle that is perfect for your individual needs.
Designed to make motoring easier, all of the adaptations available on the Motability Scheme will help make your driving experience more comfortable so you can enjoy driving again. However, it is important to bear in mind that not all adaptations are suitable for every type of vehicle due to the compatibility of the car or the adaptation. We recommend that you consider what adaptation you are likely to need before you choose your Ford.
Here are a few of the adaptations that are available for you to consider:
Adaptations to consider
|Limited mobility or control in your legs||Mechanical hand controls, electronic accelerators, steering aids and pedal guards|
|Limited mobility in your right hand||Mechanical hand controls or left foot accelerators|
|Limited strength in you upper body||Steering aids, remote control devices, easy release handbrakes and electronic accelerators|
|Wheelchair or scooter is too heavy to lift or stow||Car boot or rooftop hoists|
|Difficulty transferring from wheelchair to the car||Swivel seats, person hoists or tip-up plates|
