How does the Motability Scheme work?

Getting a car through the Motability Scheme is very simple. Those that are eligible are offered the opportunity to exchange your mobility allowance for a brand new vehicle every 3 years along with many other benefits. Are you eligible for Motability?

If you receive PIP or any of the other eligible allowances, you can put it towards a car on the Motability Scheme. To be eligible to join the scheme, you or the person you care for must receive one of the following Motability allowances and have at least 12 months award length remaining. • Higher Rate Motability Component Of Disability Living Allowance HMRC - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week• Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (EMRC PIP) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week• War Pensioners Mobility Supplement (WPMS) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £66.75 per week• Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week

Designed to make your motoring experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible, the adaptations available can help you drive, get in or out of the car, or stow your wheelchair or scooter. Not every car is suitable for adaptations, so before making a final decision on which car to have, we recommend discussing whether you would require any adaptations with our Motability specialists. Designed to help millions of people stay on the road, the Motability Scheme has been giving people the mobility they need to keep their freedom since 1978. It enables you to exchange your monthly benefits for a three-year lease on a brand-new car.

The scheme is very simple, all you have to do is choose the brand-new Ford you would like from our range of models. You can find a vehicle that works for you at an affordable price. Visit your nearest ThinkFord dealership to test drive the car of your choice, and if you're happy with it, we'll complete your order for you.

We want to make sure that you find the car that is right for you. Our expert staff are on hand to help guide you through the whole process.
Who is eligible for Ford Motability?
You can utilise any of the follwoing government funded mobility allowances towards a brand-new Ford:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC)
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC of PIP)
However, the scheme is not exclusive to the driver - someone can claim on behalf of the claimant. If the claimant is under the age of 16, their parent, guardian or carer can claim on their behalf.
