Unconventional. Again
The smart Concept #2 offers the clearest look yet at the future of smart’s iconic two-seater city car, blending the brand’s unmistakable heritage with a more contemporary premium electric identity. The design was led by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team. Concept #2 takes a more expressive approach to urban mobility, pairing compact dimensions with a bolder outlook, striking gold detailing and a clean two-tone finish. Guided by the philosophy of “Function becomes Fashion”, it transforms the traditional city car into something more emotional, design-led and personal while still remaining smart at its core.
Built on smart’s newly developed Electric Compact Architecture, the Concept #2 has been created specifically around modern urban life. Its compact footprint, wheels-at-the-corners stance and exceptionally tight turning circle are all designed to maximise agility and usability in busy city environments, while an estimated electric range of nearly 300 kilometres and ultra-rapid DC charging capability preview smart’s future direction for efficient electric performance.
This concept will differ from the production version of the smart #2, which is expected to make its global debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026 ahead of planned sales in 2027, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the brand’s most recognisable model.

The smart Concept #2 has been designed around the way modern cities continue to evolve, combining ultra-compact dimensions with a more connected and lifestyle-focused approach to electric driving. Alongside its distinctive exterior design, the concept also previews features such as Vehicle-to-Load capability and next-generation digital integration, highlighting smart’s ambition to make urban EV ownership more flexible and advanced.
