The New Ford Transit Connect with its comprehensive line-up of safety and security technologies, is designed to protect you, your passengers and your belongings. Technologies such as Pre-Collisision Assist with Pedestrian Recognition, and Emergency Brake Assist, can help to reduce the severity of an accident should one occur. Or anti-tamper door locks along with a Thatcham Category 1 Alarm, can go a long way to helping keep your valuables as safe as possible.
Designed to help protect pedestrians, Pre-Collision Assist detects both vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead, or who could potentially cross the vehicle’s path, and warns you of their presence. The system will automatically apply the brakes if you do not respond and is designed to help reduce the severity of accidents, or help avoid them altogether by functioning at speeds of up to 80km/h (50 mph). (Available as an option).
In difficult driving conditions, Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress sensing when it’s losing grip and automatically applying a braking pulse to individual wheels to help stabilise it. Advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System are used to constantly monitor the behaviour of the vehicle.
An Advanced Traction Control System eliminates excessive wheelspin giving you the best possible grip, performance and stability when you need it most. As you accelerate, the system will constantly monitor and adjust the level of power delivered to the vehicle’s individual wheels to ensure maximum contact and grip is achieved.
Keeping your trailer safely in line can be tricky at times. With Trailer Sway Control, the system detects trailer sway or ‘snaking’ and will reduce your vehicle’s speed by reducing the engine’s torque and gradually increasing the brake pressure on all wheels. This helps rectify the problem and results in the trailer becoming more controlled.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution work together to ensure that your braking is effective. In addition, in emergency situations, Emergency Brake Assist helps your vehicle to achieve maximum braking effectiveness. Controlled automatically via the Electronic Stability Control system, it can sense how much pressure you’ve applied to the brake yourself and will automatically increase it if required. Brake heavily, and the emergency brake light system will automatically flash the brake lights to warn other drivers.
