Whilst my original experience when trying to arrange a software upgrade wasn't great. They have since gone out of there way to get my issue resolved.

I bought a practicky new car Its a vw polo 1.0 DSG gear box This car came from Altringham The gear box has a fault its rattly so one of the mechanics whent on a drive with me i heard gear box rattling but he says not this is what you get now vw have your monney dont care so ile be going elswhere in futuer this isnt on service is crap now communication waranty work is put back for paying customers dont trust any main deelers now

The service I received when sorting out my faulty cover for my charging port was generally good. Albeit I would expect you to keep these in stock given this it is a common fault across the VW range. However, whilst repairing the charging port cover you started the software upgrade without checking with me first that it could be kept overnight. Then told me you needed to keep the car in overnight and could not provide a courtesy car was really poor. In the end the update was stopped and lady who dealt with me was very helpful. The next bombshell was I couldn't book the car back in until August if I wanted a courtesy car. I work locally but live in Oldham so need a courtesy car. I have since cancelled this appointment as my intermittent wipers have stopped working so I have got an appointment at Oldham VW in June for both faults. This only works because I don't need a courtesy car. To be clear I would only give a 1 star to Oldham VW as well. I am generally disappointed with the car and the service I have received since owning it and would avoid VW's in future.

The personal touch seems to now be somewhat lacking since the days of SmithKnight Fay, and Inchcape. A login screen at the entrance to drop your keys off doesn’t give the opportunity to mention any issues you might have with your vehicle, as I was directed to the login screen having originally walked over to the Service Area.
My car was dropped off at 8am, so I was expecting a call/text or email in the morning to say my car was ready to be picked up, I received no notification until I called around 2pm and found out that my car was ready, I had selected options on the login screen for me to pay for my MOT online, again nothing was received so when I arrived at the showroom I went to the service area and picked up my keys and paid. I explained to the girl who was dealing with me that I had received no communication regarding my car and she tried sending me the health check video whilst I was there, it failed to come through on 2 attempts. As I said previously the service now lacks the personal touch and this is why I scored 2 out of 5.

Really good customer service every time I visited. Kept well informed throughout and was given good advice. Cheerful friendly staff. Only slight issue I have is that I had to incur the delivery cost of my car, which I think should have been included considering how much I was spending.

Just bought a used Taigo. I dealt with Steve, who was absolutely 1st class. As I’m a driving instructor, I was keen to try a few different models which wasn’t a problem. I didn’t feel pressured at all. I was kept up to date with a few modifications. I would highly recommend Group 1 VW Bolton.
