Service was good. After arranging visit for diagnostic check and service combined, the car was handed back and I was told that the car was on a “Recall” and would need to be booked in for a further two days. I was also informed that I should have received a letter confirming this. I haven’t received the letter and there are no courtesy cars available until July.

Waited six hours at the dealership (was waiting for all the others before me to be seen!) to eventually be told the service hadn't been done, apparently the lease company wouldn't authorise the service plan. No explanation given when I pointed out the lease company was Volkswagen (why wasn't I told earlier?). No offer of how to resolve or what to do going forward. The person at the dealership simply walked off with a sarcastic 'have a nice weekend' when I informed that this was the worst customer service Id ever experienced at a garage. To make it worse turns out their fault was with the dealership who had submitted a form incorrectly.
Shockingly poor customer service.

I bought a Golf on 27 march 2026. The sale went well but I had to wait for 2.5 weeks to receive a V5 document which may be illegal. I then found out I did not have road tax as it ended on 20 march 2026. I was told when I drove the car away that I had till end of march with road tax.this was clearly untrue. When I did not receive the V5 after a couple of days as told I phoned and was told by another sales person that I had road tax on the car till 1st September which was also untrue.
A second issue was that when I drove the car away it had 2,500 miles more on the clock than on my invoice and advert on your website. I think that is an mis-sell. I’m not asking for compensation but I think this constitutes very poor after service.
I hope you are able to ensure that improves in the future,

So I called up this morning to ask for a test drive as I was interested in buying a car and the conversation went something like this: “Hi there, I was hoping to take an ID3 for a test drive as I’m thinking about buying one, do you have one available for that please?” Response from the sales person: “we have one, but one of the managers is using it, it won’t be available for test drive for 2 weeks…” Wow… so this is how a car “Seller” works these days is it…? It is as if they don’t want the business.

My wife took our golf 8 in as the speedometer screen went blank, she was then informed that it needs a software update and this would cost 700£. Money paid collection time arranged no issue, after collecting the keys and making her way to the car she noticed 2 massive paint chips on the bonnet and the car refused to start. When she went back in the dealership to query the service clerk informed her that not only was the screen not repaired but there is no signal to it at all and the parking sensors no longer work. Long story short the minor fix has now become a major issue and our vehicle has been damaged. I think it is unacceptable that keys were returned and my wife not informed that all of a sudden the problems are worse and our car is now damaged. End of the day she was given a loan car and told to go home! This is an absolute disgrace and the lack of service and how this has been handled is criminal.

A job well done. The car came back looking brand new after having damage repaired on it. Regularly kept up to date by Ashleigh. As working nights the car was kindly dropped off at my house to save me going out for it.

Everyone there tries hard to make it a good experience. Jenny on reception and Matt on servicing have been great. When we bought the car it was clear everyone was over-worked. Now the Wirrall branch is closed it's ridiculous. The phone system only answers sales, not service . The 3 page email report should say THE CAR IS READY FOR COLLECTION if it is? The disabled toilet door lock has been too stiff to operate for over a year. I understand that everyone is selling and servicing cars...just what you want to hear no doubt, but communication is also important.

Appalling - service!!! Car has been in three times over past 4 years and every time they have broken something ( gate fob, umbrella hook) or not replaced a plastic panel. When challenged they said ‘how do they know it wasnt me’. Id look elsewhere to have your car serviced.

We purchased a used approved vehicle from Group 1 VW Chester in February and the experience was poor throughout. After paying a deposit, we were only then informed the car was unavailable as it was being used as a courtesy vehicle, followed by an additional 3-week delay to meet “approved used” criteria — none of which was disclosed upfront. Once the car arrived, communication became excessive and uncomfortable, with repeated back-to-back calls from Iwan Davies pressuring us to pay before even viewing the vehicle, seemingly to meet month-end targets. After raising concerns, the sale was passed on, but communication then dropped off entirely, with emails ignored and no follow-up. More than six weeks after purchase, we still hadn’t received key documents (V5 and VAT receipt), requiring repeated chasing. We are also still waiting for details of the service plan despite multiple requests. Having spent £25,000, we expected a far higher standard of service and aftercare. Unfortunately, once the sale was secured, customer service became virtually non-existent. Very disappointing experience.
