We visited VW and bought a beautiful car. We was met by a salesman called Alex and we hit it off straight away with his warm welcome and the time he spent on us was appreciated. Alex answered all our queries and guided us along to find a car that we wanted he went above and beyond in his search. The Manager was also so lovely combining his work with Alex to help us part exchange and finance our car. VWs Alex and Manager made us welcome every time we visited .We would highly recommend taking a visit to them.

Absolutely disgusting service. My VW Passat broke down due to an overheating issue. I took it to my local VW service centre, Group One in Stockport, and he was told that the cost of repairing the vehicle would be £2000. I was also informed that the case of the breakdown was a silica bag that was contained in the expansion tank/Coolant vessel had burst. This had subsequently caused catastrophic damage to several internal components. I was also advised that as part of the repair, vw would replace the coolant tank with one without the silica bag inside. This clearly indicated that the issue with the silica bag bursting was a known manufacturing defect and was the direct cause of his vehicle breaking down. I tried to get support from Group 1 during this very upsetting issue. The group 1 vw service Centre in Stockport said that they would reduce the cost of repair with 20 per cent off parts and 30 per cent off labour, reducing the cost to £1560. I eventually contacted VW national customer service and they tried to negotiate with vw Stockport and after escalating the case they offered a one off goodwill gesture of £300 off the cost of repair. This left me, a retired pensioner with a bill of over £1260 for what is clearly an inherent manufacturing design flaw which is extremely prone to failure. This failure resulted in enormous damage to the engine cooling system. There are several reports and videos online of numerous people who own VAG group vehicles experiencing the exact same issue. Several people have taken a pre-emptive and precautionary decision to replace the coolant vessel with one that does not contain the silica bag. The only purpose appears to be to prolong the life of the coolant, however if usual manufacturer servicing schedules are followed i.e replacing coolant every 4 years or 60,000 miles, this negates the need for the silica bag. I purchased the car as a demonstrater vehicle direct from VW and has had it serviced at vw ever since. I believe that this issue was a known vw issue and that the fact that they no longer replace the coolant vessel using this part is a clear acknowledgement of this failure. I subsequently paid over £1200 to repair my vehicle at VW for an issue caused by a known defect. My cooling system was repaired by Group 1. Within a few months my heater was not working correctly. I went to Group 1 who said this issue was not linked to the previous so called repair. It clearly was and this was confirmed by the manager at Volksmaster in Bury. He said the auxiliary coolant pumps had failed on both sides as a result of the burst silica bag clogging the internal cooling system. He said this was as a result of a negligent repair by VW and a failure to flush the cooling system. As I had lost all confidence in Group 1 and their clear incompetence and lack of customer care, I had to spend another £500 to replace l both auxiliary pumps replaced at Volksmaster in Bury, who have been fantastic and I strongly recommend their service. I am incandescent with rage that I have always used main dealers for servicing and I could be treated in such a disgraceful manner. How they have the cheek to call there mechanics technicians is beyond me. There incompetence caused a substantial amount of damage to my car when being so called serviced and they offered to fix it with a massive bill. Useless. Would never touch them again. Or volkswagen.
