The answers to your Business & Fleet questions.
You can drive any vehicle in your business. If you want one that genuinely stands out, choose Land Rover. Innovative, dynamic and robust. If these are watchwords for your company, you’ll no doubt want a fleet that’s just as accomplished.
Business & Fleet leasing might be entirely new to you, or you might be a fully-fledged fleet expert. However, we understand there are a few questions you may want to be answered before enquiring further.
Take a look at some of our most frequently answered questions below.
-
Q: What is Land Rover Business Contract Hire?
-
Q: How could a Land Rover on contract hire work for my business?
A: If your company leases a vehicle on a contract hire basis, you will pay to rent the vehicle in monthly instalments that work for you. These durations can range but are often 36 or 48 month agreements, for example. After this time, once the contract is up, the vehicle is returned to the leasing provider - so you don't have the burden of 'what to do next' with the vehicle.
Contract hire means your company can concentrate on what is important - business, while avoiding the financial risk and administrative burden of owning your vehicle or fleet.
-
Q: What is BiK (benefit in kind) car tax?
A: Benefit-in-kind (or BIK) is a tax on employees who receive benefits or perks on top of their salary. If you have a company car for private use, you will have to pay a BIK contribution, or company car tax.
Every car has a BIK percentage banding. This is based on CO2 emissions, and a P11D value, which is the list price, including extras and VAT, but without the first year registration fee and vehicle tax.
-
Q: How do I calculate my company car (BiK) tax?
A: Every car has a BIK percentage band. This is based on CO2 emissions, and a P11D value, which is the list price, including extras and VAT, but without the first year registration fee and vehicle tax.
To calculate the company car - or BIK - tax, multiply the P11D value by the BIK percentage banding, then multiply that figure by your tax band - i.e. 20% or 40%.
-
Q: So, what happens at the end of my contract?
A: At the end of your contract, your vehicle will be returned to the leasing provider, without any financial obligation. This means you then have the choice to review your options, and look at a newer Land Rover model, or depending on your circumstance, you can walk away.
-
Q: Are there any extra charges I should be aware of?
A: The short answer, providing you stick to your contract agreement, is no.
However, we understand in some cases, circumstances change and our use of the car might have changed. If, for example, you exceed the agreed mileage stated in your initial contract agreement, an excess mileage charge will be payable. This is worked out on a 'pence per mile' basis which will be outlined in your agreement.
When returning your vehicle, it'll be assessed within wear and tear guidelines, to review if there's any issues with the vehicle. If any damage falls outside of these guidelines, you may be subject to and penalty charge at the end of your lease.
-
Q: Great, so am I eligible?
A: Business Contract Hire is available to financially eligible those operating as sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. If you're not quite sure whether you fit into these categories - our trusted and knowledgeable Business & Fleet Team are on hand to assist.
