How does the Motability Scheme work?

Getting a car through the Motability Scheme is very simple. Those that are eligible are offered the opportunity to exchange your mobility allowance for a brand new vehicle every 3 years along with many other benefits. Are you eligible for Motability?

If you receive PIP or any of the other eligible allowances, you can put it towards a car on the Motability Scheme. To be eligible to join the scheme, you or the person you care for must receive one of the following Motability allowances and have at least 12 months award length remaining. • Higher Rate Motability Component Of Disability Living Allowance HMRC - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week• Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (EMRC PIP) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week• War Pensioners Mobility Supplement (WPMS) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £66.75 per week• Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) - As of April 2018, this allowance is £59.75 per week

Not every car is suitable for adaptations, so before making a final decision on which car to have, we recommend discussing whether you would require any adaptations with our Motability specialists. All you have to do is choose the brand-new Mercedes-Benz you would like from a range of models, all at an affordable price that works for you. Visit your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership for a test drive, and once you’re happy with it, we’ll complete your order for you. It’s as easy as that!

Who is eligible for Mercedes Motability?
With Mercedes Motability, you can utilise any of the following government funded mobility allowances towards a brand-new Mercedes-Benz:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component (HRMC)
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC of PIP)

Arranging for your adaptations to be made is simple and most cost-effective when you take care of it at the same time as ordering your vehicle. This way, when your Mercedes-Benz is delivered it will have the adaptations already fitted. Some adaptations even come at no extra cost.

We can help you establish what you find difficult with your current vehicle. Some issues may be solved as easily as choosing the right model, such as an automatic gearbox or a flat-entry boot. Our friendly Motability specialists can work with you to find a vehicle that suits your individual motoring needs.

All adaptations are designed to make motoring easier and more comfortable. However, not all adaptations are suitable for every type of vehicle due to the compatibility of the car and the adaptation. It is important to bear in mind what adaptations you need before you choose your Mercedes on Motability.
