Mercedes-Benz is delighted to support the Motability Scheme, a national charity that is dedicated to helping disabled people become more mobile. It enables you to lease a brand-new Mercedes-Benz once every three years and benefit from comprehensive car insurance, full accident and breakdown cover, replacement tyres and windscreens, and much more. A range of adaptations and optional extras are also available as part of the scheme, so you can enjoy a Mercedes-Benz that is unique to you. The Motability Scheme has been helping millions of people stay on the road since 1978, enabling you to exchange your mobility benefits for a three-year lease on a brand-new car. Not only is the scheme simple, it also gives you the ability to stay mobile and keep your freedom.
All you have to do is choose the brand-new Mercedes-Benz you would like from a range of models, all at an affordable price that works for you. Visit your nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership for a test drive, and once you’re happy with it, we’ll complete your order for you. It’s as easy as that!
Our specially trained staff will guide you through the whole process, making sure that you find the car that is right for you.
Under the Motability Scheme, you can utilise any of the following government funded mobility allowances towards a brand-new Mercedes-Benz:
However, the scheme is not exclusive to the driver. If a claimant is under 16-years-of-age, their parent, guardian or carer can qualify on their behalf. For more details on eligibility, please visit the Motability Scheme website.
There are hundreds of adaptations that are available on the Motability Scheme, from simple driving controls to person hoists for lifting wheelchair users into a standard car. Adaptations are designed to help you drive, get in or out of the car, or stow your wheelchair or scooter, so you can enjoy your motoring experience.
Arranging for your adaptations to be made is simple and most cost-effective when you take care of it at the same time as ordering your vehicle. This way, when your Mercedes-Benz is delivered it will have the adaptations already fitted. Some adaptations even come at no extra cost.
We can help you establish what you find difficult with your current vehicle. Some issues may be solved as easily as choosing the right model, such as an automatic gearbox or a flat-entry boot. Our friendly Motability specialists can work with you to find a vehicle that suits your individual motoring needs.
All adaptations are designed to make motoring easier and more comfortable. However, not all adaptations are suitable for every type of vehicle due to the compatibility of the car and the adaptation. It is important to bear in mind what adaptations you need before you choose your Mercedes-Benz.
Here are some adaptations that you could consider, which may suit your needs:
Adaptations to consider
|Limited mobility or control in your legs||Mechanical hand controls, electronic accelerators, steering aids and pedal guards|
|Limited mobility in your right hand||Mechanical hand controls or left foot accelerators|
|Limited strength in your upper body||Steering aids, remote control devices, easy release handbrakes and electronic accelerators|
|Wheelchair or scooter is too heavy to lift or stow||Car boot or rooftop hoists|
|Difficulty transferring from wheelchair to the car||Swivel seats, person hoists or tip-up plates|
