1. Set up your user account
Log into the app with your Volkswagen ID. If you have not yet set up a Volkswagen ID, the app will take you step-by-step through the registration process.
1. Add your Volkswagen
Add your Volkswagen using the vehicle identification number (VIN). You can find the VIN in your registration papers and behind the windscreen of your vehicle.
1. Activate VW Connect or We Connect
To complete the activation process, follow the instructions shown in the app. And use smart services to get connected.

Following the one-off activation, you can use lots of helpful and innovative online services free of charge via your Volkswagen app. As standard, you can benefit from:
- Automated Service Scheduling – arrange service appointments with help from your preferred Group 1 Volkswagen centre
- Instant Roadside Assistance – once activated, you can press the Tool icon in your vehicle, to be instantly supported by our Roadside Assistance call centre – who will already know your location!
- Saved parking position – no need to remember where to park, the app will do this for you and help you walk back to your car
- Remote lock and unlock – check the lock status of your car, lock and unlock from wherever you are
- Stress free travel – the latest traffic information and real-time route updates
Electric and Plug-In hybrid vehicles using VW Connect Plus and We Connect Plus will also benefit from:
- Remote charging – check your charge and start/stop your vehicle charging
- Departure times – make sure your vehicle is charged and at the optimum temperature
- Temperature control – control the temperature and heated windscreen

With VW Connect or We Connect Upgrades you can equip your Volkswagen with additional functions remotely and flexibly at a later date. From lighting packs, to advanced navigation and even driving assistance systems, features can be added to selected Volkswagen models when you need them.
Please note:

To use the VW Connect / We Connect services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and to log in to VW Connect / We Connect with your username and password. In addition, a separate VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the app “Volkswagen” (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). For VW Connect Plus / We Connect Plus, following vehicle handover, you have 90 days in which to register the vehicle at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app and use the services for the full duration of the agreed free period. Please note that the unlimited availability of online services may depend on further preconditions such as the selected user role, service management settings or privacy settings in your vehicle. App functions and services vary by model, please check with your Volkswagen retailer for full details of the services available on your vehicle.

For customers with VW Connect and VW Connect Plus: The use of mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. For the use of Internet Radio, Wi-Fi hotspot and Alexa, where available, data packages can be purchased from Cubic Telecom, Volkswagen’s mobile communications partner, and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. The data in these packages can be used by all users and vehicle occupants. You can find information on conditions, prices and supported countries at vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use the Internet Radio, Wi-Fi hotspot and Alexa, where available, with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone), provided it has the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding function is only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad.

A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free app “Volkswagen”.? The services included in the VW Connect and VW Connect Plus or We Connect and We Connect Plus packages may vary by country. Availability also depends on vehicle model, equipment and software version installed. This also applies to third-party services. The services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes or ceased during the contract period. More information is available at connect.volkswagen.com and your Volkswagen dealership. For information on mobile data charges, please consult your mobile phone provider.

To purchase and use upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect or We Connect contract and your primary user credentials, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical functions and hardware equipment required for the relevant product and may depend on the model year and production date. The upgrades available for the specific vehicle can be viewed and purchased by the primary user in the infotainment system In-Car Shop2 or in the Volkswagen Connect shop. Paid-for products can be purchased in the In-Car Shop and the Volkswagen Connect shop with the payment methods that are currently available and can be viewed there. Your Volkswagen dealership is also happy to advise on questions regarding upgrades and their availability. Purchased and activated functions remain with the vehicle, can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.
